TWP’s Sacred Earth Lodge Grand Opening!
Here at SolarGlass we are excited and happy to report that with the help of generous support from three of our local vendors, Trees, Water & People have received building materials to help build a two-year construction project in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
The building is a new training facility for Native Americans who travel from across the country to learn and receive on-hand training from their fellow Native Americans on solar heating, solar electricity, wind power, and energy efficient construction at their training facilities. The construction completion marks a great accomplishment for the much needed additional space considering the tremendous need for renewable resources to be implemented that has grown in the past 5-years.
The Sacred Earth Lodge will celebrate their Grand Opening on October 11, 2013 at the Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center in South Dakota. Trees, Water & People along with Pine Ridge’s Lakota Solar Enterprises and World Energy Globe Award winner Henry Red Cloud as the director marks this latest landmark with the 10-year Tribal Renewable Energy Program. According to John Becker, President, Board of Directors for TW&P “Help came, as per the Lakota traditions, from all 4-directions and the completed project represents a true labor of love, commitment, and vision for a better future.” SolarGlass is honored to have been a part of this project and we would like to acknowledge the help of our local suppliers who donated materials for the lodge; Milgard Windows, Busick Insulated Glass, and Trimco Millwork.
So, if you are in the South Dakota area on October 11, 2013 and would like to be a part of this momentous occasion you would be welcome to join in the festivities! And to now end with a smoke cloud message “Mitakuye Oyasin!” (“We are all related!”) Next time when you find help is coming from all 4-directions, think of the Lakota tradition …
