ABOUT THE BRAND
MARVIN
What’s the secret behind the success of a century-old company? For Marvin, the American-made, world-renowned manufacturer of window and doors, it’s evolution by way of continuity. For over one hundred years, Marvin has been crafting performance-driven design solutions from its headquarters in Warroad, Minnesota. What began in 1912 as a family-owned and -operated cedar and lumber company has evolved into one of the industry’s leaders for functional, design-forward glazing systems. At Marvin, what was true in the beginning remains much the same today: a focus on creating built environments that promote better ways of living.
Continuing the Connection:
In Conversation with Marvin's Christine Marvin
For chief marketing + experience officer Christine Marvin, meaning comes through equipping personal spaces with time-tested, hardworking, and beautiful design. As a proud and longstanding Marvin partner, Signature Windows + Doors sat down with Christine to chat about what it means to her to be from the fourth generation of Marvins to steward the family legacy. She shares her insights on the company’s culture of customer and community commitment; what excites her about how Marvin’s innovations can integrate the past, present, and future; and how returning to her hometown has helped her own young family find a sense of grounded purpose.
Marvin solutions are as functional and intuitive as they are beautiful. We’re fortunate to employ exceptionally skilled team members—many with decades of experience—who build windows and doors with a quality that you can see, touch, and feel. This means Marvin products deliver a superior fit and finish along with outstanding performance.
Marvin only uses materials we believe are up to the challenge of our exacting designs, those that can provide the durability and energy efficiency modern homes require. That’s why you’ll find Marvin only offers the finest wood, extruded aluminum, and fiberglass material selections for projects of any size and scale.
There is so much ingenuity and creativity that drives product design and often raises new bars in the industry.
My name has likely given away the fact that I was born into this business. Happily, I might add! I grew up watching my parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles develop and lead Marvin to be the company it is today. While I gained experience outside the company, I knew for many years that it would be my choice for a personally fulfilling career.
I started working at Marvin in production and at the call center in the summers during high school and later moved into marketing, a passion area of mine. I then had the opportunity to serve in a sales role for a Marvin distributor for a few years, which was a transformational experience for me. Today, I oversee customer experience and services, marketing, workspace renovations and experiences, and new innovation work for the company—some of which will be launching next year!
When our first son was born, my husband and I moved to live in Warroad, Minnesota, where Marvin has been headquartered for more than 100 years, and where I grew up. While our community is small, it’s very active and I’m often attending community events with my husband and sons. You can regularly find us at Warroad’s Olympic-sized hockey rink (Warroad’s nickname isn’t Hockeytown, USA, for nothing!) in the winter, and out exploring the nature Lake of the Woods and our area has to offer right in our own backyard.
Family is important, and we surround ourselves with family and friends. I really feel the positive impact of the community and close connections in Warroad. For me, there is nothing more peaceful and re-grounding than living here. I also have so much time in my day. From our home, it takes a minute to get to school, the hockey arena, work…and maybe two minutes to make my way to the grocery store. I can maximize my time.
Marvin’s history of innovation and commitment to its employees, customers, and communities is unmatched. My family and I strongly believe in doing the right thing, whether that be standing by our products, exceeding expectations for our customers, or supporting our employees and the communities in which we do business. I meet with many customers and new employees, and both often comment that there is something special about Marvin’s roots in human care and how we conduct the business that is often a rarity today.
While Marvin is rooted in Warroad—a place that grounds us—our experiences, talent, and footprint continue to grow. We operate in 16 cities across the U.S. Regardless of location, we all connect back to Warroad through our unique headquarters experience program, Destination Marvin. It’s here that customers and employees are able to explore Marvin’s origins and understand it’s one-of-a-kind approach.
Marvin also prioritizes integration of emerging technologies to pair our expertise with opportunities for efficiency and impact. Marvin has a history of this, in fact, having vertically integrated pultruded fiberglass—a process that redefined the fenestration industry at its onset. This is just one example of the spirit of Marvin and its legacy of innovation.
