Vote Early and Vote Often!
For the third year in a row Marvin is running its Architect’s Challenge. Of the 138 entrants this year, there are two for whom we had the pleasure of supplying the Marvin windows and doors:
Folly Farm, and Dale Hubbard, Surround Architecture
Folly Farm is a contemporary expression of historic, additive farmhouse-style architecture. The energetic, creative clients wanted a contemporary design that still offered a casual space for their young family to create, play and find inspiration. To achieve these goals, the architects thoughtfully composed forms, spaces and finishes that combine old and new, and rich textures with simple, formal geometries.
Haystack Residence, Chris Gray, BLDG.Collective Architecture and Design
The Haystack Residence is a 5,100-square-foot custom residential project located in Longmont, CO. The design was conceived as a contemporary farmhouse composed of simple, gabled volumes assembled and finished with contemporary materials and detailing. The result is a series of comfortable, livable interior spaces and numerous outdoor patios capturing the dramatic views to the western mountains and surrounding open space.

This year, ten projects will be chosen by a panel of judges and those winners will receive expense paid trips to Minneapolis and Warroad, and have the opportunity to tour the factory and meet with members of the Marvin family. The winner of the Architect’s Challenge “Judges’ Choice” designation will receive a featured spreadvertorial in Dwell Magazine. The winning architect will be interviewed and featured in a two-page spread in the October 2013 issue of Dwell.
There will also be one People’s Choice winner, the project receiving the highest number of votes. The People’s Choice winner will be invited to attend the 2013 Reinvention Symposium. Round trip airfare, conference fees, lodging and a per diem for meals will be provided.
