Earlier this year, we shared a blog post about Gwénaël’s visit to Warroad, MN with a group of local builders and architects. It was a training trip to Marvin Window & Door’s headquarters – a 2 million square foot facility located just a few miles from the Canadian border.

Of all the information acquired on that trip, the most memorable experience was touring the Marvin HQ with Ken Sheldon … in shorts. Recently, Gwénaël returned to Warroad for another Marvin training tour, but this time, it was a bit warmer … and everyone was fully dressed.

The accommodations in Warroad, MN are about what you’d expect in a town of 1,800 – clean and comfortable, with some 1960s style. We always stay at the Patch Motel and cap off the evening at the adjoining Lounge and Grill called Izzy’s. During this visit, Izzy’s claimed one of us resulting in a later and slower start than usual the next morning.

Just as in past trips, the group discussion was every bit as good as the tour content. As an interesting tidbit, David is the design architect for the Boulder Valley Velodrome. This facility, when it opens in early 2014, will be the only one within a thousand miles. Congrats to you, David, and thanks to everyone else involved. It was a great trip!
