This week, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of a member of the sales staff. For this occasion, we took a bit of time out of a sales meeting to mark the occasion, as we do anytime a team member crosses the 5th, 10th, 15th, or 20th year milestone. A gift card is presented and thanks and congratulations are offered. Each time we mark an anniversary, we acknowledge all “Longevity Club” members. Of our 19 employees, we have one 20-year member, three 10-year members, two 10-year members, and four 5-year members.

Our customer benefits are twofold. There is an obvious benefit in the expertise. As important, the relationship dynamic among the team members is allows for faster response to any service issues and a seamless ability to cover and assist one another.

As the owner for just six years, I give me great pride that a tradition that is sadly vanishing in too many American companies continues to flourish here. Our average cost per employee is probably a bit higher than it would be if cost were the most important factor. However, Service Excellence, market share growth, and profitability, in balance, are our drivers. Progress against these critical success factors and increasing tenure tell me we are on the right track.
